Day of Reflection and Reconciliation Ceremony

The Memorial Foundation, builders of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial on the National Mall, will host its annual Day of Reflection and Reconciliation ceremony on Monday, January 17, 2022. New this year to the observance, the Foundation will host “Replenishing the Spirit,” a musical commemoration with songs of hope and inspiration.

The Day of Reflection and Reconciliation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with an address by Bishop William Barber, President & Senior Lecturer of Repairers of the Breach and Co-Chair of the Poor People’s Campaign, followed by the “Replenishing the Spirit” program from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. which will include remarks and a ceremonial wreath-laying by Martin Luther King III.

“Replenishing the Spirit” is presented by Washington Performing Arts’ signature community initiative Mars Arts D.C.  featuring D.C.-affiliated artists. The program includes performances by Broadway vocalist and past American Idol contestant Frenchie Davis, gospel ensemble Roderick Giles & Grace, actor and vocalist Roz White, hip-hop and spoken word artist Yusha Assad, a cappella ensemble Reverb, hip-hop emcee Dior Ashley Brown, emcee and spoken word artist Kaimbr, and more.
