The Memorial Foundation closed out its Summer 2025 “Films at the Stone” Series on
Friday, August 15, with a special screening of the award-winning fantasy film Wicked.
Set against blue skies and a cool summer breeze, the story of friendship and resilience
drew families and movie lovers from across the city. Guests enjoyed appearances by
Elphaba and Glinda, free face painting, complimentary popcorn, and—most
importantly—the chance to connect with one another in a meaningful way.
“Films at the Stone” is part of The Foundation’s annual community programming in the
DMV. This program aims to offer a family-friendly evening where fun, film, and
fellowship meet. Hosted each summer on the third Fridays in June, July, and August,
this year’s lineup also featured Despicable Me 4 and Moana 2.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Summer 2025 series. We look forward to
welcoming you back to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial next summer when “Films
at the Stone” returns.
Until then, remember—everyone deserves the chance to fly!
